The Olcorn Family were colourful local characters whose farming principles made them incredibly wealthy. They had 2000 acres on the flat country eight miles south-west of Rutherglen, Victoria, and were known to always be prepared for drought. As generous as they were prosperous, in the 1944-45 drought they gave away a two-year supply of oats stored in their wool-shed to those who needed it to keep their stock alive
